PRE-K 4 SA PURPOSE & GOALS:

• To improve quality and quantity of pre-kindergarten (Pre-K) childhood education for four-year-olds citywide:
  • Achievement gaps reduced by at least 25% in Language, 33% in Math, and 90% in literacy when compared to Kindergarten students who did not attend the Education Excellence Centers
  • By 3rd grade, students from the Education Excellence Centers should have closed the achievement gap by at least 10% on the STAAR reading and math assessments
  • 20% to 40% reduction in special education placement and grade retention
• To provide robust professional development for Pre-K through third-grade educators

My Favorite Children's Book

"Love You Forever" by Robert Munsch

This book is very dear to my heart.  My sister read me this book at my baby shower twelve years ago and it sparked a love of children's books for my son and I.  I continue to pass the tradition of this book to friends, family, children, and parents I come in counter with.  My first year teaching I invited mothers, grandmothers, and aunts to a "Mothers Day Tea Party" and I read this book.  I had never seen so many happy tears in my life!
